Micro-educate
What you are about to read is what you hear quite a bit – educate in the home! Always educate outside of the classroom. Yes, easier said than done, I know. We are tired, stressed, overwhelmed, and have a list in our head that never ends. Any amount of education in the home works, really… If you have 5 minutes, then use it to teach your child how to work through a problem or sound out a word, to use their thoughts and common sense to get a problem solved.
Develop Common Sense
Here’s one for you! Hmmm. . . Common sense. This is a lost skill. It truly is. Why not ask your kids what would you do if? Give a scenario and see what their answer is! This will help and ignite their brain and making them think and use their imagination, which will strengthen their “common sense.” This can be done anytime! Driving time, meal time, cooking, chores, etc. The point is to build their skill set and make sure they know what is good and not safe! Strengthen their thought process!
